Ly Dynasty Mandarin Duck Statue

Mandarin ducks are one of the legendary creatures that appeared early in the history of Vietnamese ceramics. Since the Ly Dynasty, the shape of the mandarin duck was often used as decoration on the rooftops, associated with tiles to create a special type known as ‘mandarin duck tiles.’ These tiles were excavated at the archaeological site of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
